award-winning writer-director splitting her time between Prague and Budapest. Cristina is interested in personal stories set in specific geo-political contexts. She directed half of “Daughter of the Nation” commissioned by CANAL+ through Czech outlet Barletta Productions which premiered in 2024/2025 and was nominated for 5 Czech Lion awards.&nbsp; Her most recent film "Ordinary Failures" premiered in 2022 at the 79th Venice Film Festival in the framework of Giornate degli Autori competitive section, where she took home the "Best Director under 40" distinction. The Czech-Hungarian-Italian-Slovak film is currently on its festival circuit, as well as being released in three territories on Netflix (the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary). The film was produced by Marek Novák from&nbsp;Xova Film in co-production with Laokoon Filmgroup (HU), Rosamont (IT), Super Film (SK), the Czech TV, with support from Eurimages and ARTE GEIE.&nbsp;   &nbsp; Her debut film "Things Worth Weeping For" premiered in 2021. The films is still on its festival circuit as of winter 2022, having already screened at more than 25 festivals, while also premiering Netflix Hungary in 2022. “Things Worth Weeping For” was produced by Judit Stalter from Hungarian production company, Laokoon Filmgroup. Cristina comes from a mixed Hungarian-Romanian family in Arad, a small border town in Romania. She tried her hand at photography at the age of 11 which sparked her interest in cinema, as well as showing interest in theatre, both acting and directing. Since graduating from university, she has directed 6 short films, which toured the worldwide short film circuit, screening in Palm Springs IFF, &nbsp;Clermont-Ferrand IFF, Sarajevo IFF, London ISF, Helsinki IFF, Zubroffka IFF, Tirana IFF, St. Petersburg, Thessaloniki IFF, among others.&nbsp; Her award-winning short “Holiday at the Seaside” exploring a mother-daughter relationship screened at more than 40 festivals, was distributed in several territories and recently premiered online, amassing more than 1 million views.
